Happy hump day! Wednesday blues may be the order of the day, but with any luck this archive should lift your mid-week spirits considerably!

We were delivered a deliciously funky mix from Afrowhitie - featuring a wide selection of tunes, remixes, edits and bootlegs that we hadn’t heard before. Ryza and I were more than happy to kick back, relax, and enjoy the offering.

Ryza and I followed suit with an hour of breakbeat between us. I must admit, personally, it was good to play some quality Beta tunage of years by gone.

The M Shift [218] LIVE! from Duke's Lounge, Sydney

Well, I find myself writing this address whilst sitting on the plane on its way back from Seoul, in the early hours of a Thursday morning.

Firstly, my sincerest apologies for the delay with this archive, it was surprisingly hard to get my MacBook online during the two-week stay in South Korea. (Hard to believe, I know!)

Whatever the case, though, I’m absolutely positive that this archive is well worth the wait. It was an extended four-hour show, which was meant to mark the return of M Shift resident-host, JPL (a.k.a. Leigh Westren), from The Biggest Loser house.

For various reasons, JPL wasn’t able to make it on the day however; we continued with the live broadcast from Duke’s Lounge in Randwick, in any case.

The four-hour broadcast – which I’ve split into two downloads – features live mixes from AfroWhitie, Def Tonez, Ryza and yours truly. It’s a real journey of sounds, and we hope you enjoy the ride as much as we did!

Another big thanks must go out to Duke, Mon and the Duke’s Lounge crew – for giving up the cafe space, and providing the food and drink for a hungry and thirty bunch of M Shifters for the afternoon! You absolutely rock! (And you can find the Duke’s Lounge blog at dukeslounge.com.au.

As, by the time you’re reading this, I will be back in Sydney, you can expect the following archive (episode 219) featuring Doug D*Funk (Upstart Music) – which is another corker of a show, very soon.

So! To kick start a bit of an archive catch-up, below is our special Easter Sunday Pre-Record Sessions effort, from a couple of Sundays ago.

Given the occasion, we decided to pick up a selection of short mixes from a few very talented individuals, in AfroWhitie and Andy Wright (from SPOiLT).

You’ll find that the show flows quite nicely, covering deep and tech house, with a mix of “slower garagey stuff”, and the obligatory selection of breaks.

I actually really enjoyed sitting back in the studio on a Sunday afternoon, and sending this out. Hope you enjoy it as much!

LIVE BROADCAST! Welcome back JPL from The Biggest Loser house!

JPL (Leigh Westren) returns!

You better believe it!

After a six month stint on The Biggest Loser Australia, JPL – or Leigh Westren, as he’s otherwise known – will be returning to The M Shift airwaves with a bang this coming Sunday, 1 May!

We will be hosting a special live broadcast show, which will be an extended four-hour effort – hosted live from Duke’s Lounge in Randwick.

The bill for the afternoon features the likes of:

> BROKEN STYLUS (Ryza & Def Tonez);
> BRENDAN CLAY (or Bruno, if you like);
> AFROWHITIE, and of course;
> JPL himself.

Once again, Duke’s Lounge – in my humble opinion the best cafe in Randwick – have been kind enough to host the event, and will make available a selection of coffees, and food. (The event is BYO.)
