Andrew Wowk on The Shift

With another fortnight, comes another archive!

We were all too pleased to welcome back breaks DJ of yesteryear, and Sydney scene furniture piece, Andrew Wowk back to The M Shift fold.

The last time Andrew played for us, he presented a tasty mix of the finest percussive, drum-driven drum ‘n’ bass. This time, however, was a little different. Andrew played a style which he labelled “melodic techno”. Curious, I’m sure you are, as we were – download the archive and see for yourself! ;)

On the gig-front, I played at Sydney’s Big Day Out last week, in Boiler Room. I can comfortably say, it was one of the best experiences of my life and I should be back to do it all again next year. On that note, the set that I played in this very archive quite closely reflects the set that I played on the day.

I’ve also kicked off a “pre-club” event, two Fridays a month, called ‘SPOiLT‘, run at The Settlement Bar, in Sydney’s CBD. We’ve just launched our website, which can be visited at www.soundofspoilt.com. I’ve also slipped in the SPOiLT schedule, below. Andrew Wowk is the next scheduled guest, on 11 February.

Ryza and Def Tonez (as their Broken Stylus guise) will also be supporting Slyde at The Chinese Laundry on Friday, 11 March. That should be a cracker too!

Ryzi on The Shift

Well, I’m pleased to announce that episode 212 is now available to download – at long last! (Would have been a lot earlier, if it wasn’t for a few FTP issues, but it appears to be at thing of the past.)

We were very pleased to welcome back Ryzi to the The M Shift and NSB Radio airwaves. You won’t hear a great deal of breakbeat in this show (to be fair, you’ll struggle to hear any) however; we’re certain that this show will make for some very effective afternoon listening – and it certainly proved to be the case last Sunday!

Ryzi and I played for an hour each, playing a lot from our recent deep, tech. house and techno purchases! Ryzi even slipped in a “VIP Mix” (as I called it), of his recently released remix on System Recordings.

On the gig front, we recently launched a new pre-club bi-monthly Friday night event, called ‘SPOiLT‘ – which is at The Settlement Bar, in Sydney’s CBD. We welcomed some decent numbers through the door, and have a range of potential guests in the pipeline. If you dig some solid deep and tech. house grooves for your Friday evening, this is your place! ;)

This coming Thursday, I’ll also be playing in The Boiler Room, at Sydney’s Big Day Out, supporting Booka Shade, LCD Soundsystem, M.I.A., Kid Kenobi & MC Shureshock, Bass Kleph, Mark Murphy and many more!

The M Shift's Final Show For 2010

Good afternoon all,

Hope all is well, and that you’re preparing for some well-earned time off, at the conclusion of another working year. (Or for the lucky ones, perhaps you’re already on holidays?!)

Below, you will find our final show archive for 2010, episode number 210, as it were.

Fittingly, it features mixes brought to you by myself and Ryza – containing everything from deep, tech house, and the obligatory breakbeat. We trust you’ll enjoy this offering.

Probably just in time for Christmas, I will also make available the long awaited Podcast 003 episode – which contains live recorded mixes from Ryza and myself, from the couple of hours leading up to our popular 5th Birthday Show.

Also coming up, in January, Ryza and I have some pretty big gigs lined up. For starters, Ryan and Def Tonez will be supporting The Freestylers and I will be playing in the Boiler Room at Big Day Out. With any luck, it will be the start of a very big 2011 for us!

We’re also looking to bring more guests onto the show. Early in the new year, we’re expecting visits from The Audiophilez, Matt Rowan, D*Funk, Datadex, Tony Why and Smokin’ Joe Mekhael – to name just a few.
